The Somali Center for Climate Change (SCCC) was pleased to participate in the Local Conference of Youth on Climate Change (LCOY Somalia 2026) through our Founder and Executive Director, Mr. Abdulkadir Garad Ali, who served as a panelist in the session:
“Youth, Peace & Security: Natural Resources, Conflict & Peacebuilding.” ![]()

The discussion highlighted the growing connections between climate pressures, competition over natural resources, conflict, displacement and peacebuilding in Somalia.
SCCC emphasized the importance of inclusive and conflict-sensitive natural resource governance, meaningful youth participation, community dialogue, and stronger collaboration between communities and institutions.
We believe that young people must be recognized not only as those affected by climate and conflict, but also as peacebuilders, climate leaders and solution-makers.
SCCC remains committed to supporting a peaceful, climate-resilient and sustainable Somalia.
