SCCC Executive Director Mr. Abdulkadir Garad Ali gave an interview with VOA on the growing impacts of climate change in Somalia. The interview explored how recurrent droughts, floods, rising temperatures, environmental degradation, and climate-related pressures are affecting communities, livelihoods, and vulnerable populations across the country.
Mr. Abdulkadir highlighted the importance of strengthening community resilience, investing in climate adaptation, protecting the environment, and empowering Somali youth and communities to take part in climate action. He also emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among government institutions, civil society, communities, and development partners to advance locally led and sustainable climate solutions for Somalia.
