The Somali Center for Climate Change (SCCC) is pleased to present its first Policy Brief, examining the role of youth-led organizations in strengthening Somalia’s preparedness for El Niño and other climate-related hazards.
Drawing on lessons from the 2023 flooding experience and Somalia’s evolving early-warning and anticipatory-action systems, the brief highlights how youth-led organizations can contribute to community awareness, early-warning dissemination, preparedness, anticipatory action, and local resilience. It also identifies key policy gaps and proposes practical recommendations for strengthening the institutional role of youth in Somalia’s disaster preparedness architecture.
